minimalism phase 1

  1. I would define minimalism as putting the least amount of things on a page or in a picture as possible and still being able to get something out of it. Minimalist photographs should posses a bareness to them. There shouldn’t be a lot going on in the photograph.

I think what drew me to this the most was the background. The red tile just stands out to me. I also like how the bench has to color which makes it stand out more against the background.

For this image I like how the sky is brighter in the middle than the edges. The plane coming straight towards the viewer and I like that. Something that drew me in was that the plane stands out against the background but also isn't dead center in the picture.

I'm not really sure what it is about this picture is compelling to me. I like how the birds are just sitting on the wire. There's nothing else going on except for the birds.

door #3

gottfried helnwein image cont.

The viewpoint of the image changed because now you're able to see the whole thing and not just the picture up close. I didn't necessarily think the man was photoshopped but at the same time I wasn't 100% sure that he was actually climbing. Scale can affect the picture because photographers are able to create illusions by the portions of the photos shown. Looking closely you can see that it's spliced together. I think the picture takes place in the city but maybe not a city in America. The girl looks very sad. She looks melancholy. I think the title suggests that she is the last girl. Wether she is physically the only one left or not, we don't know. It could be representing other people growing up too fast and this is why she is sad.
